“Have you ever thought about growing tropical fruits? Dreamed of being able to find the flavors that remind you of Hawaii? Well you can’t quite grow those here, but you can grow a ton of amazing and similar subtropical fruits! What are subtropical fruits you might ask? Avocados, White Sapotes, Babaco Papayas, and lots of other fruits with names as crazy as they are delicious. Join in on my zoom meeting to get a look into what it takes to grow these subtropical delights, and find out the ones that you can grow in semi subtropical Santa Cruz! ”
Nate Blackmore, has been a member of the CRFG throughout the Bay Area, California for the past five years. Nate is the owner of Wildlands Farm and Nursery and also manages the Native Plant collection and propagation at the UC NRS Younger Lagoon Reserve. Nate has been legally importing seeds from all around the world for the past few years and hopes to bring new, uncommon fruits to Santa Cruz for our local communities to enjoy, learn from, and protect.
