Grafting Workshop: Create Your Own Apple Tree!
February 5 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Ready to learn how to graft? Join the Monterey Bay CRFG and learn how to perform a cleft graft to create your own custom apple tree!
Attendees will learn about the basics of grafting, and then will practice creating grafting cuts on sample pieces of wood to develop the correct technique. After that, attendees will select a scion from among a variety of apple cultivars and then will graft the scion to apple rootstock (provided, along with pot and soil, as part of the workshop). Attendees are encouraged to bring their own grafting knife, such as a Victorinox or Felco, which are readily available online.
Workshop is free for Monterey Bay CRFG members who volunteer to help with the event. Workshop is $25 for members of the general public and non-volunteering members.
A pot, soil and scion will be included as part of the workshop. Extra rootstock will be available for purchase for $6. Bring a plastic bag for extra rootstock.
